**Summary.** For the Turkish Navy, YTEK Yeni Teknoloji designed, analysed and manufactured the fore and aft ballistic ramp systems of four LCM landing craft embarked in TCG Anadolu's well deck, and directed their installation, testing and Türk Loydu certification. The systems were delivered in 2022.

## Requirement

Each LCM required two ramps with distinct operational roles. The fore ramp lands main battle tanks of up to 60 t on the beach; the aft ramp transfers vehicles of up to 20 t between the craft and TCG Anadolu's well deck. Both ramps were specified in ballistic-protection steel and had to be integrated into a highly constrained installation envelope.

The craft carries no electrical generator. Every ramp function therefore had to be powered hydraulically from the main engine, operate reliably in a seaway and comply with Türk Loydu rules.

## Engineering solution

- **Ballistic ramp structures:** 6 × 5 m fore and 2 × 5 m aft ramps, designed and verified by structural analysis for 60 t and 20 t vehicle loads together with sea loads.
- **Hydraulic winch drive:** selected for its compact footprint, high power density and precise motion control within the limited space available.
- **Engine-driven power supply:** a 75 kW hydraulic power unit with power take-off from the main engine, removing any dependence on on-board electrical power.
- **Passive heave compensation:** absorbs vessel motion during deployment and recovery, lowering the installed power required.
- **Manual emergency override:** allows the ramps to be operated independently of the powered system.

## Scope of work

YTEK was responsible for the design and analysis of the system and the manufacture of the fore and aft ballistic ramps. YTEK also directed the manufacture, installation, testing, certification and documentation of the ramps, the aft system and the automation system.

## System operation

The main engine drives the hydraulic power unit, which supplies the winches. The automation system controls opening and closing, while passive heave compensation balances loads as the craft moves. A full opening or closing cycle is completed in under 60 seconds.

## Outcome

Ramp systems for all four vessels were delivered in 2022 and certified by Türk Loydu. The fore ramps land 60 t main battle tanks; the aft ramps transfer vehicles of up to 20 t between the craft and TCG Anadolu's well deck.

## Frequently asked questions

### What vehicle loads are the ramps rated for?

The 6 × 5 m fore ramp is rated for 60 t, sufficient for a main battle tank; the 2 × 5 m aft ramp is rated for 20 t.

### How is the system powered without electrical power on board?

A 75 kW hydraulic power unit, driven by power take-off from the main engine, supplies the hydraulic winches.

### What is the operating cycle time?

A full opening or closing cycle takes under 60 seconds.
